Dr. Vuong Nayima, D.O.
Dr. Nayima is double board-certified in Internal Medicine and Allergy/Immunology. Born in Viet Nam, Dr. Nayima moved to Des Moines as a child and graduated from Lincoln High School. Dr. Nayima studied Biology at the University of Iowa before attending Des Moines University for medical school. He completed the University of Iowa - Des Moines Internal Medicine Residency Program at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in 2014 and his Allergy/Immunology Fellowship at the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 2016. Dr. Nayima then returned to Des Moines and has been practicing there since.
Dr. Nayima is a big proponent of medical education and serves as adjunct faculty with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and provides lectures and preceptorships to numerous residency programs in the metro area.
Dr. Nayima's medical interests include seasonal allergies, food allergy,
drug allergy, and immune deficiency. When he is not practicing medicine,
Dr. Nayima practices the piano, plays video games, spends time with his
daughter Lucy, and their pets.
Amira Islamagic- Clinic Director
Amira has an extensive background in nursing and has always been passionate about patient care. Her background includes family practice, ENT, and allergy/immunology. She later decided to pursue her dream of being in health care administration and completed her degree, upon completion she did her preceptorships with several Mercy administrative personnel. She is devoted to creating an empowering collaborative clinic and promoting transformational leadership. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her son and travel the world.
Hali- Lead Administrative Assistant
Hali graduated from Ankeny High School in 2013 and continued her education at DMACC for 2 years. After completing several general ed classes, Hali transferred to Mercy College of Health Sciences where she completed prerequisite classes for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Although being an ultrasound technician has been her dream, she has decided to switch majors and continue her education by getting her bachelors in Healthcare Administration. Working at Iowa Allergy, Asthma & Immunology has set the foundation for her to become successful and motivated to finish school. Hali has been working with Dr. Nayima since 2018 and plans to stay with the company throughout her schooling. In her free time Hali enjoys spending time with her girlfriend, family, friends and dog, Luna. She also enjoys traveling to new states and visiting their zoo's, exploring and going on adventures, checking out new breweries and finding good books to read!
Heidi-LPN, Nurse Manager
Heidi graduated from Algona High School in 2003 and went back to school for nursing, obtaining her license in 2012. She has worked with Dr. Nayima since 2018 and enjoys getting to know our patients and helping to provide them with the care they need. In her spare time, Heidi enjoys reading, playing piano, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending time with her husband, son, and daughter.
Emily, Registered Nurse
Emily graduated from Perry High School in 2008. After a few years in college, Emily decided that she wanted to be a nurse and dedicate her life to helping others. She then graduated from DMACC School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 2014.Throughout her education and early career, she has spent the majority of her time on fast-paced medical surgical floors throughout UnityPoint Hospitals. Most recently, she spent a few years working with a busy spine surgeon at Iowa Ortho. In June 2019, she made the change to Iowa Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. She felt as though it was an excellent opportunity to join a clinic whose mission and values were true to hers, to have the chance to learn other areas of nursing and grow as a nurse, and to grow as a person by being around the excellent team she works with. In her free time, Emily enjoys traveling, binge watching a good show on Netflix, hanging out with family and friends, especially spending time with her husband, baby girl, and her two Australian Shepherds, Loki & Apollo.One of her favorite quotes that she tries to remember with each patient she interacts with is, "People will never forget how you made them feel".
