Dr. Vuong Nayima, D.O., Board-Certified

Dr. Nayima is trained in Internal Medicine and board-certified in Allergy/Immunology. Born in Viet Nam, Dr. Nayima moved to Des Moines as a child and graduated from Lincoln High School. Dr. Nayima studied Biology at the University of Iowa before attending Des Moines University for medical school. He completed the University of Iowa - Des Moines Internal Medicine Residency Program at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in 2014 and his Allergy/Immunology Fellowship at the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 2016. Dr. Nayima then returned to Des Moines and became Founder and President of Iowa Allergy in 2018.
Dr. Nayima is a big proponent of medical education and serves as adjunct faculty with the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics as well as adjunct assistant professor of Internal Medicine with Des Moines University. Dr. Nayima also provides lectures and preceptorships to medical students and Pediatric, Family Practice, and Internal Medicine residency programs in the metro area. He also provides lectures to organizations such as The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and Iowa Physician Assistant Society.
Dr. Nayima's medical interests include seasonal and year-round allergies, asthma, food allergy, drug allergy, and immune deficiency. Outside of work Dr. Nayima enjoys playing piano, photography, video games, troubleshooting IT hardware, biking and rock climbing with Sara, Lucy, Violet, and Jasper.

Patrick Thompson, ARNP, FNP-C
Patrick grew up on a small family farm in in Perry, Iowa. He is a graduate of Simpson College, where he obtained his undergraduate degree in Biology and played football.
Patrick entered the medical field as an EMT and progressed to an RN. While working in a family practice clinic, he continued his studies, and in 2021 received his Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Purdue University Global. Meeting new patients and creating individualized care plans through shared decision making are some of the reasons Patrick enjoys being a Nurse Practitioner.
In his spare time, Patrick enjoys fishing, jiu jitsu, being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs. He is excited to join Iowa Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology and is proud to work in a clinic with a great team atmosphere.

Dr. Kyla Ingram, DNP, ARNP, FNP-C

Location: Ankeny
Dr. Ingram grew up in Des Moines and graduated Roosevelt High School in 2010. She then earned her BSN from The University of Iowa in 2013. She worked as an inpatient cardiovascular/telemetry charge nurse for UnityPoint while attending a Family Nurse Practitioner program. Her graduate project involved food allergy management in the elementary school setting. She graduated from The University of Iowa with her her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2019. She feels a career with Iowa Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology gives her the opportunity to join a collaborative team and develop long-term relationships with families. She values life-long learning, holistic care, and family-based planning.
When not practicing, she enjoys fishing, archery, reading, playing and coaching volleyball, gardening, and watching her son play baseball.
Nicholas Rains, PA-C
Nick grew up in a small town in Illinois. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in Athletic Training in 2013. He then worked as an athletic trainer in Ohio and Michigan while obtaining his master’s degree in Exercise Science in 2015. He graduated from the Rosalind Franklin University PA Program in 2018 and spent 5 years practicing in rural family medicine and urgent care.
He feels a career with Iowa Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology gives him the opportunity to help families and patients of all ages improve their quality of life. He enjoys the collaboration between all staff and providers in the office.
When not practicing, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, golfing, and cheering on the Hawkeyes.
